Aurisonics Impressions and Reviews - Page 33

FIGHTFIGHTFI ahem... apologies.

Also jumping on the bandwagon, would suggest anyone considering joining consider quickly if they want to purchase from Springtree as demand seems to be outweighing supply for them ATM.

By the way, I interviewed Kyle Eastwood today (yes, jazz musician and son of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood). He's in Paris now, but when he comes back to the States in a few months, I plan on going to a few of his gigs on the east coast, We talked about these a little bit. I will figure out a way to get him to hear these.

R.I.P Whitney Houston....

Thanks for chiming in regularly with impressions guys, it helps make the wait a bit more bearable. At this point, I'm fairly convinced that this is the sound I've been searching for, with just one caveat, and that's that the mids are drier in character. I certainly appreciate that they are quite detailed, but the description of the mids as being drier than the RE262/SM3 worry me a bit, because I loved the lush characteristics of both the mids featured in both of those phones. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm with ericp10 on this one as well, the ASG-1 is without question a top tier universal.  Has anybody heard from Joker or ClieOS in regards to auditioning the ASG-1?  When it comes to sheer volume of IEM reviews on this site, I think the two shares the cream of the crop so to speak.

It's nice to see the beginnings of a consensus on these. I'm sure Joker will hear these eventually.

I'm not taking sides, but your comment makes me react:

This is exactly how threads slowly derail towards ugly monsters like the Yamaha EPH-100 thread.

Please try to stay neutral in your comments and stop putting old-timers on pedestals as if only their opinion could matter.

Everyone should be able to able to express opinions without constantly being hammered about their (lack of) seniority on the forums

You should realize that this doesn't entice newcomers to write reviews and join the Head-Fi poweruser base when people are just saying very abruptly "we only trust X's or Y's reviews because he has written a lot"...

Sorry for the little off-topic.smile.gif

Sorry if you got that message with my post.  I'm not saying that what "those old timer on pedestals" say is golden and fully trusted, but their opinion, like anyone else does matter.  What I'm pointing out, which doesn't need to resort in a dead-end debate, is that a small handful of members happen to contribute a lot and for better or worse can persuade or help others to make a decision.  I'm not aware of seniority slamming, but I agree with you that respect should go both ways, and an opinion is just that - an opinion.  We are all here to have fun and make our wallets a little lighter.

On an on-topic note, my ASG-1 custom tips impressions have been sent, and the agony of waiting begins.  For those interested the cost is $75 when purchased with the ASG-1, and that includes a free impressions kit.  If purchasing the custom tips separate from the ASG-1, the cost is $95 that also includes a free impressions kit.  Not a bad deal either way as custom tips usually runs around $150 without an impressions kit.

For cereal? C'mon dude, just post what you think, don't let any sense of perceived elitism get to you, an insular community doesn't benefit anyone. I know for a fact that I don't agree with the way some users here perceive certain phones, but it doesn't mean I don't respect and value their opinions as well. The more we have out there, both negative and positive, the better we can understand the phones we are listening to, especially given that we can't experience them beforehand, and are basically purchasing on the strength of the subjective, empirical analyses of others

I'm in, should be getting a set of ASG-1 within a few weeks. biggrin.gif

You should, most definitely. I'm interested in both and agree that you should invest your money into the satisfaction of my curiosity.

Not objectively; but subjectively, you can.

Uh? What? He did nothing such. He pointed out that Joker and ClieOS have more IEMs than anyone else here. That's simple fact, and it does give them more comparison material. And he didn't say or even imply than other people's opinions are useless, let alone unwelcome.

But will say that, yes, I do value the opinion of people who have experience with more IEMs (and more experience writing comparative reviews) over that of people like ... myself. It doesn't mean I'm not reading everyone's feedback with interest and an open mind -- especially since everyone has a different pair of ears, so that I wouldn't be hearing exactly the same as Joker or ClieOS even if I had all the same IEMs to listen to.
