Mental burn-in is off course a massive factor! I am not a big fan of tip rolling and have only tried the ASGs with some double flanges but they made them so uncomfortable. Im still using stocks (small) and its not shouty and also so comfy!

The last time I tested the stocks (around 150 hours) there was a bit of shoutyness, nothing excessive though, and still at the level of the Etymotic Etykids.  IDK how much more it's smoothed :p

I'm gonna try to get my impassions out (at least) before shipping my ASG-1's along with my ear impressions for a little upgrade love

This sentence confused the heck out of me :p  I thought you meant your ear impressions for the first impressions in the sentence.  I was like, wait a sec, he's going to get the impressions out before he sends them with his ASG-1?  How was that possible :p  Then I figured it out (had to read it three times :p)  Then I was like, *facepalm*

Fair enough! What are your preferred tips that you use for enjoyment then? I have a pair of HF5s now and i have found that they do have the shouty characteristic!

Uncomfy after around 5-6 hours when the top starts to dig in, other wise they are ok. I like the triples on them, helps the seal, small ones are ok, but require more push push lol. I've thought about grinding/sanding the sticky out bit near the top off some. Got a feeling they'll slot right into my ears then with the small tips...

Aaah yeh i forgot you were them for extreme hours! I dunno what id be like at 5-6 hours but I've felt no effect after 4 hours (maximum I've worn for)! I would say that would work but theres no point screwing other the warranty!

Having a comparison session with my ASG-1s and my new Phonak PFE Grey Filter and Etymotic HF5 and the ASg-1s by far have the best most sparkly treble! Just thought id mention it!

LOL, I've only used them on a 3-4 hour bus trip...  They were comfortable to and from :)  IDK about 5-6 though, haven't tested, I probably can't :p

I wish the ASG-1 had more of the sparkle.  The ASG-1 has the most delicate sparkle to my ears, the HF2s have the most sparkle (quantity).  The PFE 0xx/1xx rolls off the sparkle with the grey filters a bit while the 232 has the delicacy (even better delicacy) of the ASG, but the quantity slightly below the HF2.

So do i but it surprised me as when i compare to my DBA-02 they seem to have none but to these they had a fair amount! I do not think that they HF5s had that great quantity and just sounded harsh, PFE 012 Grey is as you you said to rolled off as well as smooth!

Bad seal with the HF5s can lead to a loss of bass and/or harsh highs :p  The B2s (I don't have DBAs) have (slightly) more quantity than the HF5 even :p  This is of course from memory right now :p

I think i have a good seal as they seem to be touching my ear drum and isolations good! The B2s are the same but they too me are in a different league of quantity and have the most beautiful highs!

Mental burn-in doesn't happen that much when you switch between IEMs, which is my case (I use ASG-1 outside and SE535Ltd at home). It certainly explains why some people get used to the harsh mids and others don't.

For tips yes, it can make a world of difference. So far foams seems to take care of shoutiness the best (I tested T-400 and Ts-400 from Comply), but they also slaughter bass, which is not an option with ASG-1. M11 tips (double flange or mushroom type) are giving nice results for me.

The whole time I have been using these I've swapped between Etymotics (2 models), PFE 232s, and Westone 4s as well as Grados. I'm sure I've gotten some brain burn in still.
