Well, you can listen to them, they just won't shine as they should (I don't know the exact spec on the ER4S, if the impedance is too high, you might not be able too :p).  Of course you have other options, you're always free to sing to yourself.  It'll be the utmost quality in format (can't get any closer to the vocal box) and no headphones means the analog signal gets driven straight to you.  Best of all, no DAC needed! :p

Just confirming, I don't have any of the ER series.  The iPod can run headphones that have 300 ohm resistance though (EtyKids anyone?) :p

Holy crap! I just realized the EtyKids have a 300ohm impedance LOL. Well if it says made for iPod it could be possible

LOL :p  Yeah, that's how they limit the max volume to 88 dB...  If you listen to any Etymotic that loud, you have ears of steal :p

Well, according to the OSHA, that level is safe for 4 hours of listening :p  I generally listen around 65-75 dB, never over 80 though (all numbers approximated of course :p).

Almost 200hrs, I still have some shoutiness... I'll be keeping the filters on.

Oh? Maybe the music genres you listen or more sensitive to the shoutiness than what I listen too! Was it bearable with out the filters and just more enjoyable with them on?

There may also be mental burn in as well that tones down the shoutyness. I know the stock tips don't help the shoutyness either (I can get shoutyness with the stock tips, but not the Monster silicone or IE silicone).

I've sent mine off to Dale. I'll update this thread and my review thread with impressions once I get them back.

Nicke eke, looking forward to see if the difference is positive (which I'm sure it is)!

Mental burn-in is off course a massive factor! I am not a big fan of tip rolling and have only tried the ASGs with some double flanges but they made them so uncomfortable. Im still using stocks (small) and its not shouty and also so comfy!
