First bout of 'shoutiness' is when she goes 'oooh' @ 1:55. There's plenty more along the way frown.gif

Sorry, my spring break roared to life towards the end so I haven't been at my laptop. It didn't reduce the highs nearly as much as I thought (5 pin holes), and the overall sound is just...smoother.

Yes I do. It does things none I've never heard in another earphone. You should give them a listen.

There's no veil with these? We're have you heard this?

Just search veil in this thread and in other formal review threads of the ASG-1.

Not as much a veil but a weird tint to the vocals.  Even positive reviews have this tint in play while others don't.

ASG-1 Diamond in the Rough review.

These have been said to be shouty not veiled! These have forwarded mids which is not all veiled! When out of the box they have a peak at 1.2khz which make some female vocals unbearable but this is relaxed over time while they burn in! They're not veiled at all and no one has said that smily_headphones1.gif Actually I remember evilcalyptic calling them veiled but he was the only one and no one agreed with him, he also only burnt them in 3 hours...

I have to agree with this. Only one or two people have said they are veiled. They have a slight boost in the 1.2k region, not the 12 (if it was the 12, I'd be extremely happy as that would mean more treble tongue.gif). They are anything but veiled.

The gent also asked me on my website.

I was confused on the word: tint in their sound.

But I understand now what he meant.

No, these are not veiled - if anything that.

LOL, everyone has :p  You aren't alone :p  I'd actually welcome a small focus on the 12k region for more sparkle and air :)

Yes, I can definitely see how people can hear a tint on these.

Thats interesting because they're pretty smooth to begin with, but they're also not lol. Like you said, does weird things.

I'd say they're a bit veiled: definite generous rounding of attack transients to my ears.

It's interesting because the driver is pretty quick otherwise and detail is definitely there. What makes it extra confusing is the very strong separating ability of the ASG-1. Comparing to the GR07 though, the difference smacks you in the face, and from what I remember of the B2 (TWFK), if I still had it I'm sure I'd say the same thing there.

I also hear the tint biggrin.gif. Interestingly enough, I didn't really hear it with full, v2, uncut, filters. Though that had other tradeoffs.

I compared the tint to a sepia filter on a photo. The details are there, yet the picture is tonally colored. I wouldn't describe it as a veil though.
