No, you are not the only one. I like these a lot without EQ.

OK, that's good to hear.  So far, every review I've read (outside of my own) has said something along these lines: the IEMs are great, but can't be used without an EQ.  It really makes the ASGs sound like they don't sound good without an EQ, so I was wondering who actually liked (or preferred the raw sound vs EQ).

Thanks eke2k6, please do let me know. I'm glad the E1 makes a slight difference, hope the E5 will be a bit more.

It seems like I left the E5 on campus. I'm on spring break, and I'll go back Saturday. If you don't have your answer by then I'll do it as soon as I get out of the car.

Right now not as deep as what I experienced with my um3x and silver dragon. The bass feeling went straight to my chest rather than thumping in my ears, it was very pleasing haharolleyes.gif Right now the ASG-1 gives me much more sub bass compared to my old setup but i'm not getting that chest pounding feeling anymore. Im guessing its because of Um3x deep thin nozzle compared to short and wide nozzle on asg-1, not too sure. Currently using the Meelecs Single Long Flange tip which gives me excellent isolation and fit.

Great, yeah still awaiting a review for the E5, E1 is getting good compliments tho but my source is a J3 so unfortunately I can't use the E1 or else it would have been a good option.

I haven't heard the UM3X but it sounds like you're talking about impact. The ASG-1 bass to me is of the speak softly and carry a big stick variety, like a gentle giant. It carried great weight but is more rounded of note and has great articulation and delicacy.

I'm not sure you'll ever really get intense impact from the ASG-1 but for what it's worth, I use the same Meelec tips and I got slightly sharper edges to bass notes when I used a firmer silicone tip with a smaller bore that pretty much matched the diameter of the ASG-1 nozzle.

vwinter unfortunately my DDM plug is loose. So I won't be able to compare them until I find somewhere to fix them. frown.gif

Honestly, if you listen to music without much stuff in the 1-1.2kHz area, there's nothing to equalize, I like bass, low mids and treble as they are.

I suppose Aurisonics work with filters to dampen this area so they don't destroy the otherwise good balance by tuning the driver.

This sounds wonderful through the ASG-1 (on flat)... To my ears anyway..

Half of my music collection is female vocals. A lot of my Mayday Parade also did have some shoutyness to it as well. It's all gone now in all my shouty songs. It's not the music.

This is one of my favorite songs. I always wished I could have seen Bob Marley perform live, and with the ASG-1 it's almost like I'm there

So for those of you that have heard both the Sennheiser ie8 and the ASG-1, which do you prefer?  How does the ASG-1 stack up as far as build quality? Hard for me to tell, but it looks like the casing of the ASG-1 itself is held together by screws, not glue.

I haven't owned the IE8's but I have a hard time believing anyone would have any issues with the ASG-1's build quality, they are just rock solid and the cable is the best I've seen included with a pair of universals.
