I said I'm hoping will compare as they are both quite unusually built and are packing similar size drivers! I don't have a clue what they will sound like though as have not seen anything really about them! Maybe instead i will just do a straight out and out review then instead :P

Clamp it with two hands with the specs side facing you.  With both thumbs, push the black clip forward to open it.  If you require a video demonstration, let me know.  It's not actually hard to open (considering the fact that I'm 5'0" and 105 lbs and don't use much effort to open it :p)

Are their going to be two of them since the ASG-1's and the AS-1's come with different models?

It really is quite simple and far from needs a thread! Unless you want a discussion about the 1 effective technique to open it without strain (tinyman listed) :P

I'd definitely let these burn into your brain for a week before judging them. I had gotten used to the Ety and UE sounds before and my initial impressions were definitely more along your lines of being extremely disappointed for how much I paid vs. what I got. I thought they sounded worse than my HF5s and I paid nearly triple for these. But the thing is I think that with the ASGs in particular, you really need to let your brain adjust to the sound stage. your description of hearing things from outside a concert hall completely resonates with me as that's exactly how i heard these when they came out of the box.

I'm 100% sure that is a brain burn-in issue as on my new filtered pair, I no longer had that experience of feeling like the soundstage was muffled when I first got them. However, I do have to stress again how much burn in really changes the sound. I've only been burning in this new set for around 20 hours but the difference between initial and current impressions is enormous. I think out of the box, I'd give the bass 60%, the mids around 90% and the highs around 80% of their final sound potential. Give it a real chance before dismissing these, exclusively use these for a week. It's fine if you end up disliking their sound signature in the end, but I guarantee you will notice a huge shift in the next few days though.

as for price range on both ends of the spectrum, i would take an ER-4 or IE8 over the ASG-1 ANYDAY of the week. For being in the same price brackets the ASG underperforms

If you look on his profile, he sold his pair already :p

Just got these from a fellow Head-Fi'er (free burn-in included tongue.gif) and I'm very impressed considering the relatively low price tag on these. They're quite unique in their sound and as mentioned countless times the vocals are very forward with these.

I think I recall someone mentioning they were great with FPS games, so I'm gonna give them a go with some CS:GO now.

OK guys my pair is in classifieds  if anyone is interested. Good for UK - EU person.

I have not gelled with these & i think its time to move on. Kind of double minded at the same time so may end up changing mind..

Also spent way too much on toys last few months - 4 iems, dac, ipad3, interconnects..  Need funds to complete mini ITX media PC.

These are from the second batch with cleaning tool & tested by Matt himself before shipping - Zero driver flex.

Just updating on my comment above regarding the use of ASG-1's with FPS games. They're very accurate and it's much easier to position enemies than with any other IEM I own so they're worth keeping simply for that alone wink.gif

Ya I have to agree. I played a few rounds of BF3 yesterday using them. Just amazing how accurate. Better than anything I have actually.

How are you find them dsnuts? Enjoying them?

I never thought anything would put a dampener this soon on my dba-02s but these have managed.....

When a/bing in some songs their will be details i hear only with the dbas and highs are so much better but their something about them that wants me to tai my dabs out and put my asgs back in! Must be how you felt ericp! I also think the effect on amping on them with my Objective 2 is just great in my opinion!

These definently have their own bit of sparkle now though as in eric claptons she's waiting at the end their is a whistling in th back ground that really sounds lovely on the asg's!

I'm using the Full Bass + Treble EQ on Clementine and it's doing miracles with the ASG-1's.
