I'll have some customs within the next month, so will do a comparison. In terms of fit / comfort, these rank 3rd on my list of universals, after the EPH-100 and GR07.

What's the usual reply time when using the contact formula on the Aurisonics website - anyone tried? :)

Dale is pretty quick to respond, usually under 24 hours despite the 97 million emails he gets a day.

Yes, he's responded within 12 hours (usually 6) over the course of our 20 odd emails. Very quick, and very helpful.

Yes.  Last Friday I sent a support message at 23:00 and he responded within an hour, and throughout the evening until about 2:00!  That's dedication.

Sounds great. He's probably busy then, I wrote them sometime during the weekend.

I initially had some major comfort issues with the ASG-1's but seems my ears have taken the pain & started to accommodate them better.

These may end up becomming more comfortable than EPH100 in the long run as I still get a small amount of vacuum discomfort from them. Also when jogging with EPH100 I get some bone conduction occurring which means I can hear the sound of my footsteps at low volumes. Very annoying.

I agree archy121. It seems like there are a few listeners disappointed with the ASG-1 because it is what is suppose to be, an IEM for stage monitoring use. They are mad because it's not what they want it to be, an audiophile IEM. Many professional stage monitors dial down the excessive harshness of the highs frequencies so to protect musicians' ears who listen at higher volumes. I don't understand why some of you can't get this? If you want a greater treble range, eq it up! But in no way do I find the highs of the ASG-1 less sparkly or sizzling at its current tuned position in the IEM on flat.

Friday I had to cover a George Benson (with Boney James opening) concert a the Chicago Theatre for a magazine I write for. I decided to pay particular attention to the sound of the cymbals being played by the drummers in both bands. I discovered that the cymbals didn't come through the sound system of the Chicago Theatre in an harsh or overly sparkly way. As a matter of fact, the highs instruments sounded live the way I hear them in the ASG-1. This leads me to believe that many are just conditioned to enjoy more lively or harsher highs, but that sound is not necessarily natural. The Chicago Theatre is known for excellent acoustics. I just make this point to counter those who say that if  an IEM doesn't have more dialed up highs it's not natural. It's all just a matter of opinion and how you are use to listening to music.

They were tuned by engineers specifically/uniquely  to be used as a 'stage monitor' & if we want them to sound & serve a different purpose - everyday fatigue free audiophile listening than its mandatory to re-tune them via EQU'ing.  If you don't want to take my word for it, Aurisonics President/CEO Dale himself has encouraged EQU'ing.

On the subject of EQU'ing as whole i have my opinions.

In the world of Hi-Fi where you buying individual components that cost 100's to 1000's pounds each I believe there is no need for EQU'ing. As the individual component from the source to the power cable to the interconnects can be individually hand picked to build a system that is tuned for the purpose built in mind.

With my relatively short experience with phones i don't feel the same EQU'ing rule applies. Unless you are 100% convinced your file encoding & your source PMP or PC is delivering reference quality sound to your ears EQU'ing will be required to fine tune & achieve the preferred audiophile signature. With ear phones its a different ball game & EQU'ing should not be seen as some kind of blasphemy.

*edit*

With my EPH-100 which are fairly flat & neutral sounding i made minimal changes to add emphasis to the low & high ends.

ASG-1 on the other hand have had a LOT done to them to get them sounding as i would prefer. This should be expected if anyone wants to use these phones for non Stage Monitor use. Without EQU'ing they are completely unbearable to my ears - too 'shouty', resonating with a box like sound,   & little lacking detail in highs (sparkle). I can't imagine anyone being able to use them for audiophile listening on daily basis without any EQU.

Once EQU'ed the Aurisonics become transformed into a different beast altogether - superb. The only thing that comes good with them out of the box is the sumptuous Bass.

Are you getting a demo as all the others have off the filters? And I'm sorry its off topic but what sennheiser demos do you have. They were telling my mate how theirs a soon to be launched ie10!

Well said ericp10.  I too think a lot folks here forget or disregard that the ASG-1 and it's CIEM siblings primary audience are aimed at professional musicians and singers, which i bet most folks here are neither, professionally that is.  Its great that the sound can be tweaked by EQ, tip rolling, and the up and coming sound filters.  Despite all these, the driver's purpose to be voiced/tuned for the primary audience won't change, along with its inherent traits, and it shouldn't.

@shotgunshane if i remember correctly you had a problem with your first pair as they were faulty with a driver flex issue, what problems were these as i feel like i am having driver flex problems. Also anyone else who may be able to shed any light on the situation! Its only cause i heard it can damage the drivers and thats not what i want at all! I think i will give dale an email as well to see if he can do anything about it.

Also i was told that this was a second ten pair without any driver flex!
