I don't think most people use dynamic customs. Most actually use UE/JH because they have the most marketing clout and have the most industry connections. FutureSonics as been around a very long time, too, and that's why they have a sizeable client base.

That's a good question...  I'd want to say bass response is naturally better with dynamics, but tuning can always be done to BAs.  I don't know though :p

Atrios and ASG-1 are indeed totally, utterly different IEM's.  They both have a single dynamic driver, and that's about where the similarities end...

LMAO....  I don't know why that made me laugh, but it did beyersmile.png  I haven't heard the Atrios though, I've read a lot about them...  Too bad reading isn't the same as listening :p

UE has the biggest market share.

Folks, let's get back on the thread topic.

Cant' help but mention that the MG6's are used by this season's American Idol.

We're on topic in the sense that we're talking about who Aurisonics aren't being used by and why. Its bizzaro world being on topic, like negative space in architecture and design. wink.gif

Being the official IEM of American Idol is not necessarily the best indicator of success though - see LiveWires a few years back as an example.

I just got the ASG-1 in the mail. Instantly got a great fit, and it's way smaller than I thought. I didn't have any issues opening the otterbox, unlike the rest of you pansies tongue.gif

Yeh agreed with otter box case! It takes seconds to open with no strain aha! :P

First off, was never a big fan of EQ'ing.  Found it to be too much like "cheating", unpure, whatever negative connotations you want to associate with it.  Honestly, was always too lazy to bother with it.

But decided to try it with these ASG's, as these seem to respond well to different nuances... and boy, does it make a night and day difference.  They sound absolutely filthy now.  Is it cheating?  I don't know, maybe.  But the shouty mids or whatever people want to call it are completely gone and everything else that was great about them are raised to another level.  This is what I was hoping for when I went for them and now I finally have the sound I was envisioning in my head/ears.

For those who find the shoutiness fatiguing, try these settings out on a Cowon.  I think you will be pleased if your preferred signatures are similar to mine; it's a completely different beast.

JetAudio settings: 80hz-Wide: +1, 220hz-Wide: +2, 780hz-Wide: -3, 2.4khz-normal: -1, 13kHz-Wide: +1 BBE: +2

As a sidenote, seems like the ASG's like to have a decent amount of power driving them (consistently need to pump up the volume a few notches above my other IEM's) and I have a feeling these will also respond very well to different amps, though have not had a chance to try/experiment yet.  Something to look forward to!

Your otterboxes are obviously faulty  evil_smiley.gif tongue.gif

I recommend sending them back immediately. You can never be too careful.
