First off, was never a big fan of EQ'ing. Found it to be too much like "cheating", unpure, whatever negative connotations you want to associate with it. Honestly, was always too lazy to bother with it.
But decided to try it with these ASG's, as these seem to respond well to different nuances... and boy, does it make a night and day difference. They sound absolutely filthy now. Is it cheating? I don't know, maybe. But the shouty mids or whatever people want to call it are completely gone and everything else that was great about them are raised to another level. This is what I was hoping for when I went for them and now I finally have the sound I was envisioning in my head/ears.
For those who find the shoutiness fatiguing, try these settings out on a Cowon. I think you will be pleased if your preferred signatures are similar to mine; it's a completely different beast.
JetAudio settings: 80hz-Wide: +1, 220hz-Wide: +2, 780hz-Wide: -3, 2.4khz-normal: -1, 13kHz-Wide: +1 BBE: +2
As a sidenote, seems like the ASG's like to have a decent amount of power driving them (consistently need to pump up the volume a few notches above my other IEM's) and I have a feeling these will also respond very well to different amps, though have not had a chance to try/experiment yet. Something to look forward to!
