Aurisonics Impressions and Reviews - Page 9  

I've inquired on discounts for the custom model and varients, and there isn't any.  The retailer game me the prices which are the same on Aurisonic's site and from the retailer I was dealing with was told to order directly through Aurisonic.

I have have to agree that there is a lot of work involved in a custom piece and I surmise the profit margins are much higher with customs over the universals.  Universals can pretty much be sold to any retailer, but customs usually has to go through the same single channel from start to finish of the custom product.  It's a good strategy to have lower priced universals to experience the taste of the signature sound, with a chance that the buyer will move up to the custom model.  I know if I like universal post audition, that's exactly my steps.

uh... me & my friend ordered & we got like $50 off each. i guess if u guys buy in a grp there might be discounts?

^Are those the custom model or the universal?  If the latter, it's probably already known that you can purchase it for more than $50 off retail price.

i got the AS-1b.

Dale told me last week that my AS-1b should be ready around 2/7 or so. I'm hoping that is still the case, which means they would ship in the next few days (along with the ASG-1). 

All this talk sounds promising. I like it when instead of a hype train, we have a solid user base start growing.

And that's precisely why I'm paying close attention to this thread as appose to certain others.

Hmm... Didn't really notice the isolation or lack of it it during my time with ASG-1s, so they're probably about average. That being said, I didn't go to any any particularly noisy places when I had them, so it's hard to say.

Actually, scratch that. I remember a couple of occasions when a friend who was sitting about 1.5m away had to tap my shoulder to get my attention so they're not too shabby in that regard.

OK, but seriously, I can't wait to see all the activity after all the ASG-1s arrive and impressions start to flow.  Personally, I plan on giving my best shot at a ASG-1, IE8, TF10 comparison/review.  I'm caving in and calling Matt to order them now.  I really think these have the potential to be a contender and not a FOTM.

My TripleFi or IE8 on the FS Forum - Umm, not yet....

It's taken me almost five years on Head-Fi to really learn what MY preferred sound signature is compared to what I thought it was (or what I was convinced it should be).  In the beginning, I thought I liked an analytical presentation or at least close to a flat curve.  Fast forward to the present and I've learned that I was way off and I prefer a very warm signature with a lush midrange (but not recessed) and a smooth slightly de-emphasied treble and a big handful of bass. 

Here's to hoping that the ASG-1 will come close to my holy grail.

FOTM is not a bad thing IMO. Most IEMs that the majority of head-fiers seem unified in agreeing that they are top tier IEMs were all pretty much FOTM at one point or another. I can think of very few FOTM  IEMs (since I've been a member of this forum) that got rave reviews and are now thought of to be duds. I didn't say there aren't any, but the numbers or minimal to my recollection.

That's very true, I can't say I've bought a bad FOTM headphone.  But I can say that I have been caught up in the hype, bickering and evangelizing that goes on in FOTM threads and in the past that has influenced my buying decision but I guess that's part of the process/equation. 

My last two purchases all came from obsession, there was just something about the lure of the ASG-1 and ATH-ESW9 that I have just purchased.  Maybe it was jumping into unknown territory with the ASG-1.

I'm just here to buy cool gear that makes my music sound great to my ears. 

P.S.  Will trade for Portillos, Als', Mr. Beef or just about any other Chicago greasy food.  (Grew up in the suburbs).

Yes, you know Chicago's heart attacks food places well (but you will die with a smile on your face...and a full stomach)....LOL. Try not to get the deep dish pizza sauce on the in-ear monitors, please....
