I need help choosing a pair of cans, please

Hello there Head-Fi!

I currently have the AKG K518DJ and I like them very much (SQ wise) but they're extremly uncomfterable!!!

So I gathered up some cash, and I can get more, and I would like to buy a new pair of headphones that will work well with an iPhone, and connected to a (really good) sound card on my computer.

Basicly they need to be good, OVER ear, comfy, not ugly, and sound even beter then the K518DJ. I will not get an amp anytime soon so please, headphones that works nice without an amp.

I listen mostly to pop, R&B - Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5, Beyonce, Shakira, Emily Osment, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and all that kind of stuff... (Most of my artists have a little bit of electronics and rock in them)

I am not a bass-head but I kinda like bass.

Noise cancelation isent a problem but is preffered.

They MUST be fast (that I can hear every single voice, guitar, every note, everything), good isturment saparation.

Please, from AKG, Denon, Audio Technica, Sony, Sennheiser only please.

Right now I have my eyes on the K702, K240MKII, AT AD700.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, they are supra-aural headphones. But they fit almost all your requirements..they are fast and detailed.

Just my 2 cents.

If you don't want to break the bank, I suggest the Creative Aurvana Live!. I got it for around $80; they mostly retail around $99, but usually will go down to $70 (that's what they say here though, take that with a grain of salt). And I have compared it to the K518DJ. IMO, I like the CAL! more, it's over ears, comfortable clamp, and have a short cable (around 1.2 m I think). It's similar to the K518DJ, but with more controlled, less bloomy but still have a punchy bass when needed. I guess I have a similar enough musical preference to you, so I can recommend this as a good improvement over the K518DJ.

Isolation is average tbh, I can hold a conversation with someone when there's nothing playing, but only the most frantic of mouse clicking (like someone playing an MMO or something) or screaming/yelling would leak in when there's music playing. It doesn't leak out song as far as I know.

Sadly (or fortunately?) I haven't listen to any of the other headphones you listed, as they are still very much out of my budget. My 2 cents.

EDIT: Oh one more thing, out of the box, the instrument separation is okay, but with a simple mod, it can get better.
