I just plugged my Clip+ from headphone out, to the aux of my midi Hi fi, and was shocked at how muddy its sounded. Its it the quality of the MP3's (which i thought were decent previously) or does it need an amp  on the HO ?

Actually I just realised it was the phono in. I moved it to the MD/Video in and it sounds much brighter. If quiet. Up the volume and you get a bit of hiss.

When I did that in the past I hooked it into the CD in jack, or the laserdisc in jack. That way I could max the volume on the Clip and no hiss was present. Just be sure to disable and EQ on the Clip.
