Skullcandy made a headphone called...    Skullcandy: High End Audiophile headphones.

I might give it a chance....

Actually, Skullcandy has been trying to get into the higher-end market and is, if Tyll at InnerFidelity is to be believed, succeeding.  He had good things to say about both the Aviators and the Mix Master Mikes.

So, to answer your question, I wouldn't be terribly surprised by anything other than the name (Skullcandy would never settle for such a boring, non-hip name) and I would expect them to be pretty good.

Skullcandy already is trying to break into the high-end market.  They released the Aviators and some other headphone.  Supposedly spent millions on R&D in the US and China.

I personally prefer to stick to professional R&D though, Sennheiser, AKG, Shure and Audio Technica.  But that's just me, I don't trust all these 40+ headphone companies that seem to be appearing as if headphones were bunnies.  I think in a few years this craze will die down and once again the stalwart professionally trusted Sennheiser, AKG, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic and Shure will be left standing.  This is just a momentary phenomenon I think started by the Beats.  After a while listening to the Beats, Soul and 50 Cents' garbage, people will start to think these don't sound much better than $40 headphones at Best Buy and then the craze will recede.

Well, Tyll seemed to like the Aviator pretty much, and said "After a couple of hours on the phone with these guys, I hung-up quite convinced there is a remarkably good possibility we will be hearing better sounding headphones from Skullcandy in the future.".

So I guess it wouldn't strike me as a surprise, if they did actually go for the audiophile niche as well.

Yeah, i didn't mind the aviators, bad value for all the better headphones you could get at the price but i don't think they sounded too bad by Skullcandy standards and the design is incredible

They're going to have to make a celebrity headphone.

The Bieber Stax

or

Stax Double D - as worn by Dolly Parton

(Imagine the marketing and advertising on that last one)

Has anyone seen the Ad for the purple beats solo with Justin Bieber?   "Kids spend like $15 on headphones and it doesn't make sense they should hear it properly"
Combining bieber and beats is bad enough but that line just made me cringe.
