I'm new to Head-Fi,and could use some help..??

I'm trying to figure out a way of getting better sound quality from my computer, without buying a speaker system.

.AS of now,I'm using a set of Porta-Pro headphones,& find them outstanding.

Yesterday,I ordered a pair of Sennheiser hd25-1 II,,which from what I've read, on this forum are pretty good.

At some future date I will get another pair of  full size, open air headphones.

Can someone supply me with a thread,or links to..how I can start getting more power for my computer,by,maybe attaching a small portable amp /power supply.

Again,I'm a newbie about this,so,thanks for your patience.

Mike.

PS-Cancelled the HD25-1II order.

Got the Sennhesier  HD598

Do you have any kind of add on sound card on the computer?

Or are you using built in sound from the motherboard?

Fiio E10, USB/DAC/Headphone amplifier.

Small, but not a true portable, needs to be plugged into the USB port of the source device.

An Asus Xonar DG is a low cost ($35) sound card that comes with a half-way decent headphone amplifier.

Thanks PurpleAngel.....

I'm getting delivery of the hd 598 headphones in a few days..

Do you think that the E10  ,will be a big improvement, say over the E7 amp?

Like I said,I'm a little new at all this..

TNX,

Mike

I'm not a Fiio user, but most posts I see say people like their E10 over the E7.

Somewhere there is a thread dedicated to the Fiio E10, good place to ask that question.

I'm not sure how much the HD-598s will improve with the E10 over built in sound.

Personally, I always use a headphone amplifier, even with my $35 headphones.
