Repairing/Troubleshooting Sennheiser HD 280

Sup guys,

Ive had this pair of HD 280, but they recently broke during transport. That is to say, the right ear stopped functioning. Here's a pic of the pair, and here a close up of the speaker of the right ear. I've messed around a bit with the pair, here's what came up:

- The left ear functions perfectly fine

- After setting the balance on full to right, the right ear still produces no sound

- The wires are still soldered to the speaker of the right ear, so it's not a loose contact problem on that part.

This leads me to conclude the problem must either be in the connection between the left and the right ear, or the speaker is blown. Anybody have any tips, info or help for this situation?

Thanks!

You can use a multimeter just to check if the wires are fine. Otherwise the driver needs to be replaced.

Not to sound callous but this may be a good opportunity to try a new headphone.  I have only read a few reviews praising the HD280, majority of the impressions are pretty awful.  I've never owned a pair, scared away by the awful reviews.  Just saying, maybe good fortune in disguise, finally that push you needed to seek a different pair of headphones.

Good point, I'll do that as soon as I can, thanks!

I understand, and I'm thinking of replacing them too, but I'm a poor student, if its worth repairing, and not too difficult, I may actually try to do so. Otherwise I'll just get myself a pair of new ones, enough guides on here to find one I'd think. By the way, I've seen this selling forum on here, do you think I could sell this pair on there? Or isn't it worth anything anymore?

Thanks
