Do IEMs Need Amps? What's Your Source?

Exploring IEMs wondering if people are using amps or just out of the source?  What's your source?

IMO, some IEM's do sound better with good amps, but usually it's not that big of a change. A lot of my earphones (HP-TWF21 - e-Q5 - GR10), change very little with an amp attached.

A lot of amps are used to add to a certain sound signature.

 

Say for instance your iem's have detail but are cold and lifeless, a warm sounding amp will go some way to alleviate this.

 

Plus your iem's will handle the music better, notes will have better decay and it will sound less congested.

 

The tricky part is getting the right amp, which is why i chose my P4.

 

You can change the opamps to tailor the sound to your needs.
