This forum's opinion on a headphone purchase for myself :)

I am new to this website, but it seems to have very knowledgeable audiophiles swarming it :) I've been doing some research on some headphones to buy. I wanted the opinions of this forum to help me make an informed decision. Also, any info on stores that may stock these kinds of headphones would be much appreciated. I'd love to try some of them before purchasing them, but ya I haven't had the best of look finding any :) I wouldn't mind suggestions for other headphones that may not be on this list as well.

My list.

Denon AH-d2000
Ultrasone Pro900
AKG K 702
sennheiser 650

(I wish I could afford these ^_^)
Grado ps1000
Sennheiser hd-800

Your location would certainly be helpful!

I live in the very southern most part of Maine. For example, I live 15 away from Portsmouth NH. Hope that helps.

These two guys who are Grado dealerships should be able to help with the HD650 and the Grado range,

plenty of goodness there with the 325i, PS500, RS1i that is similarly priced to the others.

What kinds of music do you listen to? We can give you a basic idea of what your looking for, but personal preference plays a big role here.

My music taste is varied. I will listen to just about everything except most rap and country music :)  So anything from techno, hard rock, metal to bands like Why? and Astronautlis.

Also, I appreciate the suggestion, but Bangor is almost 3 hours away from me :( I may have to make such a trip if need be. Boston is closer to me though and Portland ME.

Here's the Grado dealer locator which sorts by US state. Most of these stores will carry other lines, never know your luck in the big city audio store.

for a mixed taste in music including some electronic, the denon would be a pretty good choice.

easy to drive too, you don't need an amp for them.
