Looking for a 2.1 + Receiver for playing music off computer and turntable for around $600

Hi first time ever posting here, I'm looking for a receiver and 2.1 set up for my computer. I was originally looking at the Swan M50w but i would much rather have some kind of setup with a receiver for future expandability than self powered speakers. I also need multiple channels so i can switch between line in, phono, ect. My budget is anywhere around $600. The headphones i have(Technics RP-DH1200) have a low impedance so i don't think i really need an amp for them. But do you think i'd need to throw in a DAC? I'm pretty much a complete noob and have no idea where to even start looking so any suggestions are more than welcome. Sound wise i'm look for really deep bass, but with plenty of clarity. Thank you

Yamaha RX-A700 & RX-V667.

These are the cheapest Yamaha receivers with the better speaker amplifiers.

Also Yamaha receivers come with Silent Cinema, which provides surround sound for headphones.

Polk Audio Monitor 30 series II bookshelf speakers

Velodyne VX-11 subwoofer

Thanks for a quick response, but those receivers kinda blew my budget away. Is it more important to put more money into the speakers or the receiver? I won't be upgrading for probably a while and i just need to connect speakers and a record player so a really high end receiver isn't really necessary.

For audio, usually for for every $1 spent on electronics, $2 are spent on speakers.

How about Yamaha RX-V667 ($320) with 2 Polk Audio 50 Monitor speakers ($100 each), skip the sub.

Check the website Techbargins , look under

Electronics > Audio > home theater, some good deals on receivers.

and Electronics > Audio > Speakers, good deals on speakers.

For sure check out these two Yamahas mentioned. These have discrete amp circuits rather than chip amps that are on lower models, in addition to other features, such as networking. Yamaha's silent cinema headphone effect is also supposed to be one of the best. Either of those can be had for around $300.

I would recommend this for a sub, nice punchy bass and down-firing

That leaves your current budget pretty tapped out, you could go as cheap as http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SS-B1000-8-Inch-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B000OG88KY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1325930488&sr=1-1 to hold you over, upgrade later when you have some extra cash.

or there are several pairs around $120 from polk, cerwin vega, infinity, etc

edit: These yamahas should drive your headphones no problem. If your video card is newer, you can do an hdmi connection to the receiver for audio, otherwise optical from your soundcard or motherboard integrated. In any case, your receiver will act as the DAC, so you do not need anything else.
