Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sometimes Bestbuy will have it on sale for around $100.

Onkyo HTX-22HDX 2.1, with lots of modern inputs, $216 at Amazon and B&H.

Yes, although yours are way out of my price range lol

 

 

Also, I found some old equipment in my dad's basement. Do you guys think this will help me any?

Only thing I know is it says on the back each speaker impedance should be 8ohms or more.

Since your budget is so low it would be advisable getting some active speakers instead of passive. Would save you the hassle of getting a pre/power amp or receiver. Look into Audioengine active speakers. Don't expect great bass or anything mind blowing at that price though.
