On the recently bought UM3Xs the left plug doesn't hold well inside the monitor. On the day I bought it out of curiosity I unplugged it to see how it worked (carefully, mind you) and then plugged it back. About two or three weeks later the plug started to come off all by itself. In the pocket or even in the ear, sometimes it doesn't completely unplug but there's no sound. It doesn't even go all the way inside (the bottom part of the plug doesn't touch the monitor's base) so I can't glue it in. Anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

Westone UM3X problem with plug

If you bought new, send back for replacement. If they are used there is not much you can do. I hate replacement cables for this very reason. With a 2 year warranty, I just don't see the point of RC cables + they are more uncomfortable with the memory wire and connection area. Personally I'd pay more for fixed cable.
Well, in case anyone else stumbles upon this with a similar problem - it was fixed under warranty by trimming and slightly separating the pins on the plug. Apparently just moving them apart (for lack of a better word) isn't enough because they'd come back together again so the ends have to be trimmed and so the plug itself sits flush with the monitor's socket.
