T1's and the Musical Fidelity M1 HPA

Can this amp drive these phones effectively?  If not what is the best amp for these phones in the same price range?

Thanks..

Edit.

Nevermind.  I'm an idiot.  I thought you were talking about the V-Can.  My mistake.  The M1 is a very fine amp.  It should drive the T1s very nicely.

Keep in mind, though, that the T1s are 600 ohms.  High impedance headphones need lots of voltage, and typically tube amps are better at supplying the voltage swings than solid state amps do.

In your rough price range, you may consider the Woo 6, Woo 6 SE, or Woo 2.  These are said to pair very well with the T1s.

The SPL Auditor can also be considerated. It's a SS amp that was specifically designed for high-impedance headphones and outputs a rather massive 1.7 W @ 600 ohms. Good luck in your search.

Great Info - Thanks MayaTlab.

Which DAC pairs good with this amp?

I belive  SPL Auditor - Musical Fidelity M1 HPA  - Burson audio HA 160

are equivalent choices.

My choice was M1 HPA due to it was the cheapest alternativ.

I'm not sure the Burson pairs well with the T1. I've read numerous reports about that both on Head-fi and other forums. There are also negative comments about the Auditor but they seem less numerous than the positive ones.

As Hodgjy said, look also at tube amps, especially those labelled as "OTL" since most of them tend to have a rather strong voltage output.

Yes a few well respected Headfiers have commented on the T1/Burson pairing being a poor match-one stating it's the worst he's heard the T1 with. An excellent option (may be out of your range) would be the Decware CSP2+.

I was i little bit surprised when using M1 HPA.

I thought that i needed to increase the volume to

t high level  when using 600 ohm T1 .

I have not  set the knob more than halfways so far,

that was extremely loud.

Only played about 20 hours so far with my new  T1.

How many hours hours did u guys use to feel that

your's T1 where "burned in"?

T1s are 600ohms but are reasonably efficient.  They do require a decent amp, and sound fantastic with a good-great amp.  There have been plenty of threads covering tube amps (particularly the Woos and Decware) but there are plenty of excellent SS amps that drive the T1s easily; then it simply gets down to preference and subtle difference.

Amongst the better SS ones at or around the OPs target would include the Musical Fidelity M1 HPA (original question) and the Violectric V100 and the Meier Classic.  I doubt that you would be disappointed by any of them.

i highly recommend the T1 with the woo audio 2. its a highly regarded combo by several users on here.

it has amazing synergy with the T1 and is viewed as one of the best amps you can get for the T1 at that price.

i myself find that it makes the T1 less bright sounding and makes everything sound really natural and musical while also improving the soundstage.

its a nicely detailed and intimate sound that sounds great with just about any type of music. it really brings the best out of the T1.

also being an OTL tube amp, it loves to be paired with 600 ohm headphones like the T1.

I'm using the Musical Fidelity's  V-DAC II with M1 HPA .

Using my DAC makes the sound more soft and warm.

They have the same RCA center pin measure so i can use

a  RCA male - male adapter.Dont like using cables.

I really would like to listen to WOO WA6.Many seems to like

the T1 - WOO WA6 combination.

A pity a cant listen to woo in europe.would probably

cost me 1500$ along with taxes and shipping to have.

the T1 + WA6SE combo is decent, but the WA2 is alot better for it imo.

The SPL Auditor is a fantastic choice and brings out the natural qualities of the T1. I have not heard the WA2 myself, but being a tube amp it is likely to color the sound a bit. Warm it up, as it were. If you want the most clarity and a neutral sound, I'd go SS. If you want a little tasteful color, go tube.
