Asus Xonar STX vs External Amp/DAC

Thread Starter

Will be used with ultrasone pro 900's.  The sound card is about 200,  I am willing to spend up to 400.  How best to spend my money?

Thanks in advance!

The STX's amp has 10 ohms of output impedance which is less than ideal for the Ultrasones but the DAC is fine.

What are you using with the 900s now?

Pro 900 works great with STX.

Apparently both DAC and amp sections in STX /ST are comparable to standalone DACs and amps that cost much more than STX on its own.  DAC is suppose to be very very good, and as far as power for headphones is concerned, that shouldnt be a problem since it can run even 600 Ohm headphones very easily.
