Hello HF!

I am in the process of building a new computer and i plan to spend a lot of time in front of this thing listening to music.  In the last few years I have gone through 4 pairs of shure in ear headphones which i favored because i could use them underneath my helmet while i was on a motorcycle.   As much as i love the sound of the in ear headphones I have developed some hearing problems from excessive volume competing with the exhaust sounds of my bike.  My doctor advised me to move to some over ear headphones as they do much less damage and limit bacteria.   Im pretty set on the ultrasone pro 900's but im really open to suggestions,  I had a pair of grado's for a month or so but really did not like the sq vs the shure's.

The big question for me right now is how to actually get the most out of the headphones I decide to buy.  I will use foobar2000 with the wasapi plugin,  but i cant decide on using a soundcard or a amp/dac.   If i get a sound card it would be the asus xonar stx 2.1 with built in headphone amp,  but I would no idea what i would do if i went the external route.

to sum it up these are my questions

Asus xonar stx 2.1 soundcard vs affordable external solution

Pro 900's  vs anything else

any opinions would be appriciated!  thanks in advance!
