What is the best way to connect my iPod to my receiver?

At home I have two Monitor Audio RX6 speakers hooked up to a Marants SR5005 receiver. When I want to listen to music from my iPod, currently I use the cable that came with the iPod and connect it to the USB port on the receiver.

Would I get a better sound if I used something like this? http://box-designs.com/main.php?prod=dockboxf&cat=source&lang=en

It would certainly look better, since the iPod and cable would not just 'lie there'.

Or better yet, what would be the best way to hook up my iPod to my receiver and get good SQ?

Thanks!

Pure i-20

I would hook up a small cheap computer (mini mac or the like) to the receiver via hdmi and use the remote app on any iOS device to control it. Once set up you´ve no need to even see the screen.

No wires, good stuff.

So you mean to ditch the iPod completely and just use the computer? Yeah, I guess that's also an option...
Although I really like the i20. Very nice price and SQ seems decent. I'll have to check the availability in the Netherlands though...

No not at all.

I have my iPhone loaded with high quality files for on the go. I would never ditch it. But I have a couple of mac minis hooked up. One in the living room to a DAC that goes into my amp and speakers, essentially what you would do with your HT receiver. And another one in the bedroom next to my nightstand headphone rig.

The iPhone, or an iPod touch or iPad, work with apple's remote app to control them. They play their own files locally at full res, the iPod just tells them play pause etc, and I can do it from anywhere in the house without cables.

PCs running iTunes run the same way as well.

So no, no ditching the iPod, I just reccomend using it as a master remote as opposed to the direct source. Less fiddling with cables.
