akg k240 mkii or akg k271 mkii??

Hi, I can get the 240 for 122 bucks from Amazon, and the 271 for 125 bucks......what should I get???? I will use these to listen to classical mostly, and want a closed design... Help :Dmy

The K271's are closed back, the K240's are semi open.  Since you want closed back this should simplify things a bit. 

 

But a search of the forum brings up a lot of threads comparing the two if you need more information.  Much of it is conflicting, as normal around here:  http://www.head-fi.org/search.php?search=akg+271+vs+akg+240

The k240S leaks very little sound out, but the isolation is poor(don't block out external sounds well). If you're worried about sound leaking out and disturbing others, they should pose no problem. FWIR they have lots more low end than the 271, which I haven't heard. The 240S does have somewhat bloated bass, but very natural mids. Was listening to Maria Callas with them the other night, and they sounded very good indeed. But if you need good isolation, they're probably out.

Well I will go with the 240, as they sound better according to most threads I read.......thanks guys biggrin.gif
