Brand ranking... (Bose, B&W, Shure, Phiaton, Sennheiser, Klipsch, Monster)

I'm new to audio, I know a little.

I am now working in a job that retails some headphones and would just like some input on basic brand ranking.

I know obvious you should compare products to products, but in general... I want some opinions on how you would order these brands from highest to lowest in quality.

I have 2 different sets, premium & general.

1) Bose, B&W, ,Shure, Phiaton, Sennheiser, Klipsch, Monster

2) Sony, JVC, Pioneer, Phillips, Ultimate Ears, Audio-Technica, Skull Candy

The ranking is the most important to me at the moment,

but if you want to offer some general words or description/opinion on each brand... great

Thanks everyone! Helps me a lot.

We don't rank by brand...  We rank by overall sound quality, along with price (here anyways, other places do by sound, price, durability, comfort and design).  Some users also add build into this as well.

Just because the brand has a good headphone doesn't mean all headphones in that brand are good.

Yeah, you're not going to survive here for very long.

I'm just curious, how exactly is this going to help you?

IMHO, Ultimate Ears and Audio Technica should go to premium, especially since they both sell above US$1000 headphones and they both have a fairly extended high end range.

Anyway, this is how I globally view those brands, it should approximate the ration of good/bad headphones. I doubt I could make a more precise list, there's no specific order in each category.

1) Sennheiser, Shure, Ultimate Ears: well engineered and excellent sounding products, especially their high end ones

2) B&W, Phiaton, Klipsh, Audio Technica, Monster: audiophile hit and miss, usually quite decent but some very average products

3) Sony, JVC, Philips: Consumer hit and miss: usually very average, if not simply bad, but some models (usually 1 or 2 in their current range, more if we take into account their whole history) are truly exceptionnal, expecially Sony who can suddenly sell a superb US$50,000 pair of speakers.

4) Skullcandy, Monster: overrated, overhyped (Skullcandy has 2 good models though, but the whole line is crap otherwise)

Thankyou very very much khaos974. That helped alot.

Seleium, It helped by giving me a very broad (and yes rough) perspective on overall brands in the industry.

and Head Injury... if this forum is full of people with your kind of welcoming attitude... I don't care to be a part of it...

Once again thankyou khaos974... and so this will be my final use of this forum (which I am sure makes you happy Head Injury)...

Just a general tip. Before you dive right in on a well established forum, lurk a little while. 15 minutes of reading the posts here would have shown you that your "Rankings" don't really hold much water, nor are they going to be an accurate depiction of a headphone's actual quality.

I think the reason you got a generally negative response is because you jumped in, posted what could be considered an ignorant comment, and then expected the community to do all of your "research" for you.

Khaos974 gave you a good start, but if you want to be a knowledgable salesperson, do a little reading and stop trying to classify headphones by brand. As a retailer you're in a position to edify the public, use it and stop perpetuating the brand name nonsense.

If brands are the only thing that mean anything to you, you shouldn't be asking which is best, you should be asking which have the highest margins, then focus on selling those.
