Amp and DAC for hd800 and edition 9 headphones

Hello guys,

I have been looking for an amp and dac or amp/dac combo that will best suit my Ultrasone edition 9's and my Sennheiser HD800's. I only have 2000$ to spend on both of these components and that includes any shipping costs if applicable. I would rather purchase them locally instead of buying online for the sake of convenience and auditioning if possible. Thankfully, I have found the distributor of Burson audio products in my country and acquiring an HA-160DS or HA-160D is now possible. I have also found the distributor of Schiit audio products locally, but the Bifrost DAC and Lyr amp are out of stock but should be arriving within a month or so. I know none of these products will make me spend my initial 2K budget, but If you think the products mentioned above are a good choice for my setup then you would save me some money and shipping fees! Also, please note that my laptop doesn't have any optical out, so the DAC must accept USB as a primary input source. I listen to a wide range of music, with emphasis on rock and heavy metal just in case that may help narrow down the choices of Amp and DAC. Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey, I'm in a similar position, got hd800s n have an Asus essence one right now as a dac and amp but I feel like they aren't doing my phones justice.

For 2k you may want to consider an audio lab m-dac plus wa2 or wa6se

HA-160DS or HA-160D with a Cambridge Audio DacMagic. Alternatively, the DacMagic + Woo Audio WA6.
