Solid advice on bass head cans that do not require AMP.....

I just ordeed some restock HD595s they should arrive today, but after reading all the reviews/opinions, I know I will be longing for the bass roll. So I will be selling them immediately. ($120 anyone?)

So I need to re-order a replacement pair sometime today, any help or info is greatly apprieciated.

I need these to pump bass and majority of the time I wont have an amp on them. I would love a nice soundstage and mid/high presence, but I realize I am limiting options with my budget.

I dont care about size and comfort comes in just behind quality for me, though I will be wearing these in 3-5 hour sessions.

Currently I am considering

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80

Audio-Technica ATH-PRO700MK2

Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic Surround

Audio Technica ATH-A900 Audiophile Closed-Back

So I need to re-order a pair sometime today, any help or info is greatly apprieciated.

I really need to stay in the sub $200 range.

This forum has been a wealth of knowledge for me so far and thanks in advace for your time.

Any of them(except for the A900) will give you the kind of bass you crave.  For a sleeper candidate, there is Sennheiser's HD518.

Thanks for the response I will check out the 518's.

Since I will be using these with a mic attached....i feel that open air would be best suited. So i can hear myself talk and dont suffer the cabin pressure ear syndrome, thats common with closed cans.

But is their any chance of me being satisfied with an open air type....being so bass hungry?

Sorry to keep asking new questions but also...

of the ones listed above which are best overal suited for rock/metal/industrial music?

and I really like the look of the a900's do they truly have as heavy bass as the others?

Thanks again.

The HD518 has surprising of bass impact and punch despite its open design.  I think it can satisfy most bassheads.  The A900 has pretty good bass(from what I've read), but I'm not sure it will satisfy bass heads.  For those genres you mentioned, I think the HFi-780 is probably the one to go with.

DOH!

Man I was seconds away from clicking the order button on the DT 770's

Now im back on the fence...

Here are the prices for my current options:

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro-80 = $149

Audio-Technica ATH-PRO700MK2 = $140

Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic Surround = $151

Does that change anything? Are any of those stellar deals?

I know the least about the HFI-780's I only recently started considering those.

I think the comfort of the DT 770's are why I was leaning towards them.

I feel like closing my eyes and just picking.

Thanks Digital Pride for the advice....if anyone else has any expierience with any of these sets please chime in.

Thank your lucky stars you didn't go with the A900's - they have no bass what so ever, nothing, nada.

The A900's are good, not for bass, but they're good.

I own a pair of the PRO700MK2's though... I swear they rattle on my head sometimes. It's like taking two subwoofers and strapping them to your head.

All the while preserving clear mids and highs. I want to put them on just thinking about. PRO700MK2's are what beats what to be when they grow up.
