I think Ssavage meant San Diego, California.

Denons do have a excellent soundstage for being closed. Compared to the open cans I would still consider them pretty decent, on par with the Sennheiser?
D2000 soundstage - like in an opera hall, esp the tiny reverbs.
HD600 soundstage - I feel like I am in the studio mastering the song, but a window away from the singer him/herself.
Personal preference for soundstage might actually go towards the D2000
Denon is more musical, coloured. HD600 however is my reference can since it does everything right, but do not flavour any typical aspect of sound quality. And yes I drive both of them out of a E7/9.

Thanks very much for the comparison. Would you say the d2000 sounds "fun"?post #22 of 291/9/12 at 9:40pm- mrAdrian

Yeah I will say that. D2000 is more fun/coloured/wow while HD600 is more flat/neutral etc.
post #23 of 291/9/12 at 10:46pmFor rap/hip hop, and paired with the Fiio e9, my closed Beyer DT 770 80ohm is incredible.
I also have a HD 600 paired with my e9/e10, and hip hop sounds reallllllly good, but it sounds airy and lighter than the 770's.
For hip hop I prefer the soundstage to feel like I am in the recording studio, as opposed to a concert hall, which is how the 770's sound.
The HD 600's sound more clear, and have a more live feel to them. Depends on what you prefer.
But if you only want one set of headphones and listen to other genres, the HD 600's are a better all-rounder.

Thanks for comparing those! Btw i will only be using them for hip hop.post #25 of 291/10/12 at 8:25pmQuote:you're welcome.
for the sake of clarity; the DT 770's feel like I am in the recording studio, and the HD 600's feel more like the concert hall.
for hip hop I prefer the DT 770's, but they are both great cans!

If hip hop is what you are looking for, you probably want a bassier headphone, so a HD650 will serve you well, not a HD600.
Is there a particular reason you are looking at the HD600 and not HD650?- basshead1
