I was wondering how many decibels of sound isolation these offer. Would i be able to listen to music and still protect my ears while playing acoustic drums? Thanks in advance.

They typically give -9dB of broadband isolation which is not very good. Try for something better than -14dB for your needs.
I suggest in in-ear earphone like the Etymotic HF5. You will receive much better isolation.

In-ears (as mentioned above) provide much better isolation than full-size headphones, and the M50 doesn't isolate all that well anyways. Have you looked into specialty drumming headphones at all?
