Hello everyone,

I'm extremely new to everything 'Audiophile' but have recently converted from Walmart generic we-break-every-couple-weeks type headphones to the Steelseries Siberia v2s (non-USB) with the Siberia soundcard (USB). I guess they aren't very liked here at head-fi.org but I bought them to play games (comes with a mic) and I really like them because I've never really had headphones as loud before and the feeling of the speakers buzzing against your ears with heavy bass is sick..

Anyways.. I stumbled upon DFX (http://www.fxsound.com/) and the perceived sound change is nice. It works great with WinAmp but the free version has limited features to push the software to a level I'd be happy with - pushing the bass (and pretty much every other setting) TWOfold and headphones mode... SO I was hoping to find a free alternative..

In my search for an 'audio enhancer' I found alot of people pushing Foobar 2000 over WinAmp and through my need to be a cool kid too I tried making the switch. I like the interface and could conceivably find myself using it. But then there is the question of using a DFX type filter for my music.. DFX has a plugin for Foobar but it is not free either. And things like Ozone (haven't compared them side by side yet) require Foobar to have a WinAmp-esque hack to work in the first place (http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Foobar2000:Components/Winamp_DSP_Bridge_%28foo_dsp_winamp%29)..

Would this sacrifice quality further and I'd be better off using WinAmp in the first place?

Any hints / tips for a beginner in the audio quality aficionado world would be appreciated. Thanks.
