The AKG K270s are the classic, big huge studio headphones. There is little doubt if you see someone in these cans, they're tracking tasty licks on a new album. Despite their size, they do tend...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

Bought these on whim, for your basic train ride to work I don't mind. But its far from being the best I have own.

First, I should note that I auditioned these both straight out of the box, without any break-in time and then later after 53 hours of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite...

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

I mean sound quality wise does it make a difference is where im getting at.
There are a ton of great old record players out there from the 1970s. The technology has in many ways become more refined but it is a question as to what your looking for in sound and how much you want to spend. An old turntable which has been well cared for can continue to play records just great.
Some super old record players are getting big resales even though they are very old due to their intrinsic quality surpassing current models at times.

I've got a generic and plain JVC turntable from the 70's. Got it for 40 bucks and the seller threw in a broken yamaha amp, and 5 vinyl's from his collection too. IT sounds great, although I'm sure there's much better sounding out there, but that doesn't really matter, because it still sounds great. JVC, Dual, and Technics made affordable turntables in the 70's that are still kickin' today, and Yamaha, Thorenz, Marantz, and Denon are probably more mid-range.
One peice of advice is to avoid 80's turntables. They were cheap and plastic (on the whole, I'm sure there's a few good ones), many weren't direct drive, and they just aren't that great. My dad has an 80's table that he paid a decent amount for (as a consumer, not audiophile) new, and my old JVC beats the crap out of it. Keep your eyes peeled on craigslist, ebay, and your local thrift stores and wait for the right one to come your way
