Hey guys,

I just joined the LCD-3 club. The difference from LCD-2 is just phenomenal. I expected way less... One more happy customer :)

^ Congrats!

I think I'm starting to resign myself to the inevitable purchase of one of these.  My Taboo should be coming in a couple months, and I have a feeling I'll be quite happy with an LCD-3 to go with it.  :)

Does anyone have any tips on the best place to purchase in Europe (I'm in the Netherlands)?  Is it worth ordering straight from the US, from a place to like HeadAmp?  I haven't quite worked out yet what's cheaper in terms of lower US price vs extra custom duties.

I wanted to buy at the official Dutch Dealer: soundconsult.  But it wasn't allowed to send it to Belgium where I live :(

So I had to order it directly from Audeze.  So far, I don't regret it, it didn't cost me that much more (thanks to the €/$ rate) even with the VAT and import taxes (almost 400 € ...)

Thanks, yeah the SoundConsult site has been down for maintenance for a while.  I did have some nice email exchanges with the guy who runs it a while back, so I might contact him again.  Do you remember if ordering from the US was cheaper overall or more expensive than the 2000 EUR you end up paying from a local dealer?

Oh, I remember perfectly that it was more expensive (of course, I want to say).  But it was less than 2060 € in April, it depends on the exchange rate ...  And yes, the soundconsult website is down :(  Anyway, if you can, I'd always choose soundconsult (local dealer) rather than all those customs worries (and costs !).

Edit:

And one more thing: Audeze gave me a refund of 82$ because there had been some glitch on the website while registering my order that made me pay more than I had to for the shipping fees !  So it really cost me about 2000 € !

LCD3 Burn-In Results:

I haven't chimed in for a while. Way back in this thread (a few weeks ago in real time), I had just received my LCD3s. I was auditioning a well used pair of 2.2s and was concerned because they sounded way better than the new 3s. The folks at Audeze said it's just a matter of personal preference... and some on this thread said the 3s sounded better than the 2.2s right out of the box. Well, since that didn't happen for me, I decided to do the thing I always do: burn in any new gear before final judgement. So, I fed them a varied stream of tunes 24/7 at a decent SPL, and burned them in for 200+ hours. OMG. They've transformed. I've never heard anything like this. These cans now blow away anything I've ever auditioned, even my own Stax from years ago. Now I have to re-listen to every album I have, because it's a whole new experience! What a great decision it was to splurge for these.

For those of you who are initially underwhelmed by the sound of the LCD3, burn them in and they will change your world.

Thanks to everyone on this thread for your enthusiastic recommendation.

In what areas would you say the biggest improvements are noticable?

I've been meaning to join this thread for awhile, as I LOVE my Audeze LCD3's!!

I wanted to share my recent review in Positive Feedback:

http://positive-feedback.com/Issue67/audeze.htm

I sincerely hope you guys dig it.  I poured my soul into this, as I haven't had a component

that's changed the way I listen so profoundly as these magic cans.

We were just geeking out at my friend Bob Levi's place, and we had my LCD3's, HD800's,

and his Grado PS1000 - hooked up to an E.A.R HP4 (w/ OG GE and RCA 6SL7 tubes)

with an E.A.R front-end digital system feeding it - WOH!!

I just got the same tubes for my HP4!!

This is FUN - rockin U2's The Joshua Tree to motivate this Sat. morning.
