IMO, the LCD-2 and 3 are voiced (much) differently. The 2 can sound "dark" compared to the 3, which can sound generally warmer. The 3's treble can sometimes sound rolled off, whereas the 2's have a tendency to have more treble response.

The fazored 3's seem to have a halo of added bass and treble in comparison with the classic 3's... I'm not sure if this is true of the 2 classic vs fazored.

I would strongly recommend trying the pair of headphones you end up buying, and doing a direct comparison. There is so much variance between different pairs and drivers, it's hard to say which you'd prefer, and if you would hear the same sound from different pairs of headphones. I preferred the LCD-3C's that EdmontonCanuck had to my LCD-3F's... I also preferred a pair of LCD 2.1's to 2.2's that I heard as well. IMO, there is much variance between different LCD headphones... it really depends on the FR of the drivers, and your personal taste.

I am afraid that there's next to zero chances of auditioning the headphones. Very few Audeze's in this country I think. Only one store sells them but doesn't have them in stock. Headphone section on the biggest local hifi forum is tiny. Doesn't even have a thread for Audeze but does have for hifiman.

Mine is the unfazored one also, and I *LOVE* it ;)

I had the chance to listen to my unfazored LCD-3s against a pair of LCD-3s with the fazor at a local hifi shop. To me, the fazor'd version had a bit more bass but seemed to lose a surprising amount of detail in the highs. I say surprising because it wasn't a huge amount of detail, I was just surprised that there was any loss of detail at all.

I've heard other people say the same thing about the increased bass, but most people don't observe a loss of detail. I'm starting to think that the fazor'd LCD-3s I tried had a mis-aligned fazor, as was documented in the "failed LCD-3 modding thread" that surfaced a while back. I wasn't smart enough to examine the fazor of the pair I tried, unfortunately. It was also a floor model, so who knows how many people had tried them on or fiddled with them carelessly.

Having no place to audition the LCD-3s does suck... I wouldn't have spent so much money on them without hearing them first. If you decide get them, I'd be damn sure my retailer had a good return policy. It would really suck to be out ~1400 (about right for a used set, right?) and end up with headphones that don't give you an "oh wow" sound.

I think it’s the other way around that the fazor LCD-3 has less bass quantity and no loss of details, if any difference it’s at least easier to spot the details on the LCD 3F, as they are a bit clearer sounded.

My presumption is that the LCD 3F they have in the local hifi shop was not fully burned in or not working properly.

Ah, I imagine you've heard bot the F and the C in a context where you knew both were good and burned in. Might I ask where you came across this opportunity? I'd love to try it.

But you're probably right -- for all I know, the LCD-3s at the hifi store could've been a week old with less than 10 hours and could've been damaged from over a year of in-store careless use.

I have own both the LCD 3C and LCD 3F. For like 3 month I had both of them at the same time, so I really had plenty of time to burn in and check them out with different pads, cables, amps etc.
