If you buy one from the US please note that iit's 120V only smily_headphones1.gif

Yup.

Universally liked expensive products tend to have low traffic threads.  The GS-X thread is more or less a build status thread for the same reason.  Once you get either... you're done.  Conversation over.  Hand your keys to Head-Fi over at the door :P

So true...since my GS-X arrived, I really have zero interest in any new dynamic headphone amps...I'm done!

+1 The DAC topic for me has been put to rest for a while, as I am not ready to budget something like a MSB etc...

And there's nothing else to say. It does the job brilliantly every day and I cannot be more pleased with the PWD2.

Well, not all of you have a PWD Mk2 though :D

Btw, I called the dealer today (Well, already yesterday for me....) and asked, and yeah, it seems like we're talking about a fairly close price to original, but if I'm getting 120v version that doesn't sound like it will be good in israel.

The dealer actually was trying to recommend the Perreaux DP32 DAC which is apparently cheaper at 12,800 ILS which is 3640.29 US Dollar based on google and he said that compared to PWD Mk1 it is quite a bit better, he hasn't heard the PWD Mk2 yet but he has sold a few.

He doesn't have it for audition atm.

but as around the same time the GS-X Mk2 will come in, I'll be looking into asking him for auditioning with the GS-X.

^ Really? The Perraux DP32 is made right here in my country, though I know nothing about it beyond its local price of NZ$2995.

Looking at specs, it does not mention DSD/DXD capability, and appears to top out at 24/192. Perraux (and Plinius, their rival) do make fine products, though it's their amplifiers for which they're best known.

Indeed, not all of us have PWD mk2s. I went with BMC in the end. DSD not being of interest to me, not yet at least, I'm happy in my ignorance biggrin.gif

Well I might opt for the Auralic Vega in the end, because like I said, smaller in footprint, supports DSD/DXD, uses Sabre 9018, isn't supposedly harsh on treble, costs 3.5k but the PWD2 costs more. The only problem here is that no dealer for Auralic in israel, otherwise, I would get it in a heartbeat.

First GS-X mk2, then we'll see :D

^ Good luck. And of course, as others said, many more options likely by the time you get your GS-X tongue_smile.gif

The Vega is reportedly awesome but more expensive not less than the PWD2.  PWD2 is $2500 new in the US.  Truth be told, I didn't even pay that much for mine new, shipped, taxes in.  Just saying.

Audiogon/Head-fi for used PWD2. At that price ($1.7-2k) there's little to no real competition. A decent step down voltage converter costs anything from £80 to £200 for a conditioned balanced PSU.

I don't need a 120v version.

And like I said earlier, looks like PWD2 is more expensive than Vega, here.

It is a better deal to buy a 120 PWD MKII and then buy a step down converter. Like I said earlier, I wouldn't buy a PWD MK II for anything more than $2500 at this point. There are better options once you breaking that $3000 threshold IMO.

Well for me that 3000 can cost as much as 5000, for example the Antelope Zodiac Platinum that I was testing recently costs in israel 7054.82 US Dollar based on google translation.

In reality it costs $5500 which is not a little difference.

In perspective, LCD-3's cost me 8500 ILS which translates to 2408.27 US Dollar - Which is not a little difference from original price. What I'm saying, for me, the prices that all of you are talking about is just funny and I'm jealous :)

Like I said before, I always wanted to get the Auralic Vega, first it looks awesome, and second it really is supposed to answer all of my needs, except perhaps at some point having surround (I guess Stereo is enough though).

If we are talking VAT (taxes, etc.), some people will be kind enough to lower the value so those charges won't be so high. Perks of buying used. If you are set on buying something new or can't find someone that is willing to do that, I would seriously consider trying to buy something local. Those prices hikes are pretty ridiculous.

I am really curious if that could be said about Master 9 too.
