Audeze LCD-3 Impressions Thread - Page 142

People.... I've found the ultimate reference album for the LCD-3's !!!! and maybe even for any headphones, period.

Get it while it's hot: Yo-Yo Ma & The Silk Road Ensemble - Silk Road Journeys

You won't believe the LCD-3's could reproduce all of them awesome frequencies with such grace.

Bass is palpable, mids are lush, treble is present. Awesome sound staging here too...

OMG! GO GO GO!

right driver died today.....

anyone ever do warranty with audeze without having a receipt?

Audeze has never asked me for any receipt in the three times I got service done.

I have never heard the LCD.  I have used Stax phones for many years.  Could someone who has heard both tell me if the LCD-2 and LCD-3 are fuller/meatier sounding than the 007 MK1 and MK2.

The 007 MK2 is the fullest sounding Electrostat I ever heard- but I want a creamier presentation. Will the LCD's give me as weighty as a presentation as the 007 MK2 with a creamier sound?

Also, is the LCD-3 as euphoric and mellow as the LCD-2?  I understand it is slightly less weighty.

The LCD-3 will have a thicker sound comparing to the 007mkI. The first difference you will notice is the weight of the bass and how it is well separated from the mids and the treble. The other major difference is the sound staging as the Stax will be a lot better in that regard.

Well that is not very good.  The 007 has a minimal soundstage (great imaging).  Less soundstage than that may very constricting.

Actually, if you put in the power, the LCD-3/LCD-X's sound staging can be very good. And I'm not referring to a speaker amp as they don't respond well to them as the Hifiman headphones. But a very good headphone amp that can put a few watts into them. The GS-X MK2 / LCD-3/LCD-X combination is quite amazing. And the imaging is on par with say the beyer T1s.

They do have more "meat" on the bones than the SR007s, but are very quick sounding in their own right. I've only really enjoyed the 007s on a KGSS / KGSSHV (never heard them on a BHSE...yet anyway).

Just repeating myself but also change the stock cables for good quality aftermarket cables also makes a good difference in soundstage.

Right driver just went on mine as well.  Last night.  I have had them since spring 2013.  Annoying for sure but I expect no issues with Audeze working through this.

You really scare me  . How does it happen? Just suddenly, pufff… like this?!?!

The headphones worked fine a few nights earlier. I put them on to listen last night and the driver was dead. No poof. I swaped cables of course. Tried several amps. No change. I am going to pack them up and email Audeze.

yeah the driver just automatically dies. i thought it was a cable problem, but nope, tried swapping cables, changing channels, different headphone jack, etc.

they sent me RMA yesterday so i shipped them, will take a while to get to california from chicago though. hopefully by the end of next week or start of the week after, i'll have them fixed.

Yep. Had that problem too when I first got my LCD3 but not to worry, Audeze will take care of you.
