Yeah i was thinking about getting it turned into a F1J since its supposed to be even better, but since im keeping the LCD-3s and giving back the HE-6s, im not gonna worry about it, Ive already sold the F1 to Preproman to use with the HE-6s

I already contacted Nelson about the F1J.  He's ready to do the upgrade for $500.  I just have to ship it to him..  But is the F1J is really any better?

Reading impressions, ive heard its more detailed, but a bit more upfront as well. Just looking at the specs for the newer input JFET though would make me do it on its own. You did see the charts and such on the First Watt F1J page right?

oh and ive got awesome boxes to ship it in, ill be bringing those down for ya as well dude, double boxes with peanuts, probably some of the best packaging work ive seen from the guy i bought it from.

that tape ring will only re-adhere so many times...

You don't have to use the tape ring, you could use some well placed glue (where the ring used to lie) and it would have the same effect.

How would you go about stretching the headband?  Just pulling the earcups gently apart and holding a few seconds?  I'm also finding the clamping force is really the only part that's uncomfortable, and then just because it seems nearly 100% of the force goes to the front side of the earpads, rather than the back ones.  I'm thinking of maybe trying to fix the rotation of the earcups in place such that the back of the earpads at least absorb some of the clamping force -- otherwise when the earcups are allowed to rotate freely, all the pressure ends up getting placed on the forward portion.

Or did you literally take the headband off a pair of Beyerdynamics and attach it underneath the LCD3 headband and create a sort of franken-headphones?

Two improvements. Extra cushioning on the head and a significant reduction in clamping force.

Thank you! If this $20 upgrade can significantly improve the comfort of these $2000 cans, I'll be extremely happy.  For whatever reason, the clamping force seems to have become even more uncomfortable over time, I think it might be wearing me down.  All the pressure seems to be sitting right on my TMJ joint.  

What ever happened to the toilet paper tweak?  I totally forgot about that.
