shure 440 vs sony mdr v6 which has better mids?

So my biggest pet peeve with headphones is often they sound, dull, I suspose is how to describe it, I listen to mostly metal, and the guitars sound like I am listening to them though a thin wall, or rather a pillow.

 

Doing some reading, I read the cause of this is recessed mids. So which of the two headphones will make the guitars sound more sharp, and in your face?

i have both, the srh440 has more prominent mids. it does like an amp more than the v6 too

How are the shure for blocking out noise compared to the sonys?

If you can use open headphones, Grado's might be what you are looking for.  The SR-60i's are in the same ballpark in price here in the US. 

 

You won't get much isolation with them, but they are great for rock and guitars in particular.
