which cheapo closed back for classical?

hi,

i love my k701 with all kinds of music. especially its fastness and the dry and airy sounding were keepers, so that srh840, hd650, etc. left me quite fast.

until now i used inears for going outside, but i do not like sticking something into my ears any more. so my custom tf10 and ue11pro had to leave me too.

because of being in moneyproblems right now, i am searching for a sub 100$ closed back portable that catches my needs for a an airy dry and analytical sound with as much soundstage as i can expect from a small portable cheap headphone.

i already owned the cal, which is too grainy in the highs and has to much of a boomy bass for my liking. my musical preferences are straightly orchestral works, ambient, chillout and sometimes jazz.

so i know that it is hard to find what i am looking for, but maybe you know some kind of.

I am going to go ahead and recommend the Brainwavz HM3 (Fischer Audio FA-004). Very comfortable and light, solidly built (not collapsable though).

I find they have a big soundstage for such a pair of small closed cans. They feature a quite detailed full sound , with a slight mid bass hump to give them some warmth. In my opinion its sound is also quite dry and fast.

Here's some more feedback on these headphones:

thank you for your suggestion. i will read the reviews you linked. first thing i read at the german reseller http://www.headsound.de (which i can highly recommend for Brainwavz, Fischer Audio and everything else that is hard to find in europe) was that they have emphasized mids and bass and will be on the fun side. but i am looking for anything but fun.

Ok, what is their strongest Part?

Oh I see, I recommended them because the treble is also pretty good, but I think you're right they are not neutral.

Shortly after reading your thread I came across this one:

The Beyedynamic DT660 go for 159€ which is over your budget but, at first glance, they seem perfect for you. And since you are in Germany maybe you can find them cheaper.

Another one for you would be the Beyerdynamic DT440 if you are willing to consider an open headphone.

They're not that leaky for an open model and are sorely under rated. You would love them being a

K701 fan.
