Ideas for headphones - $300 - $450

Hi there from across the pond wink.gif

I am looking for some advice on my first pair of decent headphones. Ideally I would be looking to spend between £200 - £350 which i think roughly equates to $300 - $450.

I'm after some closed back headphones that would be used for rock / dubstep / d'n'b / small amount of orchestral & vocals. Im after a headphone that deals with bass well. As bass is a bit of priority due to my musical tastes, I like my bass to be nice and tight, deep but so that it integrates well into the song and dosen't completely take over.

For sources I would used my PC and hifi setup. My PC runs an Asus xonar D2 sound card and my hifi setup is currently made up of an Arcam amp & CD player hooked up to some B&W speakers.

If anyone has any recommendations it would be greatly appreciated. biggrin.gif

I had been reading a lot of good things about the Denon D2K, I was wondering if the D5K's are much of an improvement for my music ? as its only £20/30 over my budget ?

And if I did go for said headphone, what sort of amping would be good for it ?

D5000 is an improvement (from reviews) and if this is just 30£ more, you should not hesitate.

A little amp is enough to begin, a small Fiio E9 (or less for portable use).
