Which headphones should I buy? not beats

I need some recommendations on what cans I should buy. Initially I wanted beats but after reading reviews they sound terrible. I have looked up Grados SR325is which sound amazing but £300 is over my budget, they leak and they aren't completely over the ear. Sennheister HD 380 seem okay too.

Info:

- Music taste is mainly Rock/Metal

- Preferably noise cancellation

- Using them mainly at home on laptop / ipod but occasionally on aeroplane etc

- Over the ear

- Don't want to use an amp

- Don't really want heavy bass cans (like the beats)

- Budget is £200 but may go higher if I am convinced

Thank you!

Since you mention Beats, I can imagine style and iPod usability might be important to you.

You can try the brand new Philips L1 (haven't heard them myself yet), but which won't isolate quite as well, or the pricier Sony MDR-Z1000. Both will perform much much better than the Beats, without pumping excessive abuse of bass into your ears.
