Looking for a good music & gaming headset - Page 2

Significantly better in games with hardware-accelerated audio (DirectSound3D or OpenAL), not noticeably better in games with software-processed audio (XAudio2 or current versions of FMOD) because it's forced to emulate 7.1 speakers at most instead of the game environment itself.

That's my experience with CMSS-3D Headphone vs. Dolby Headphone.

Wow, I don't know if it's my imagination, but I think the bass on these headphones is getting better and better. I haven't got my sound card yet (not enough monies), I'll keep you posted when I do.

Just got my sound card with CMSS 3D (Xi-Fi Titanium black). It was around 70 euros. Music quality sounds better (than my old soundcard, with CMSS3D off). The helicopter demo in the CMSS3D panel sounds nice. Honestly can't see much difference in Battlefield 3 though. Maybe I have some wrong settings. I'll check with more detail when I have more time. I can't really tell exactly where the sounds are coming from, I'm a bit disappointed.

OK, I played a bit with the settings now. And I have to say, yes it sounds amazing :) I can tell where everything is with my eyes closed.
