Reputable?

I noticed Westone 3's for $280.  I presume they are not an authorized dealer but they are $350 at authorized dealers.  Is additional $70 worth the additional 1 year of warranty?   $280 is a good deal!

You better decide soon because there are only 2 left.

Never heard of them and most likely not an authorized seller? You could always just wait for another 15-20% earphonesolutions.com coupon, which they seem to have often with long expiration dates, and it'd pretty much be the same price but from an authorized seller.

Overstock may or may not be an authorized dealer but they have been in business over 10+ years and have over $1 billion in revenue.

Wow didn't know that. They do seem pretty big and sell almost everything, so I wouldn't be too worried buying from them.

The W3 are a few years old, and are being/or have already been discontinued and so businesses are just selling off inventory.

Unless you have info none of us have, W3 will NEVER be discontinued.  It's legendary and set a new benchmark for sound when it was released.

Overstock's website has in red for the Westones, very high sellout risk.

Does Westone even honor the initial 1 year warranty if not purchased through an AD?  IEM's can be fickle and, although I have not had any issues after short term use, having a valid warranty is essential so I have always purchased through AD's.  I do not think it is wise to cheap-out on these by getting a deal that may void the warranty.

eek.gif. I haven't heard any info regarding the W3 being discontinued and I hope this isn't merely an assumption because they've been out for a few years. Can you provide where you got that info? The W3 is one of my favorite universals and I'd hate to see it discontinued after my other favorite, the TF10, has been confirmed by many to be discontinued.

I heard that after the UMX3's came out, but that was a year or two back, so it may not happen soon, but maybe later wink_face.gif The W4 are out, they are an improvement...

This doesn't make sense.  UM3X's are part of completely different product line (musician monitors).  And, yes, W4's may be an improvement over the W3's but they are intentionally occupying different price points.  Westone clearly staggers their products features and respective prices -- it wouldn't make sense to jump straight from the W2 to the W4 in their lineup.

Overstock is reputable.  I've bought many things from them, though mostly furniture.  For that kind of stuff it's usually brand-less so you sort of roll the dice.  But for a branded W3, I'd expect them to be legit. Also, if you buy using a credit card, you'd get an extended warrranty from the cc company right?

with that being said, is $280 really that good of a price?  Amazon shows $284 from 17th St Photo, and $285 from Adorama.
