Cans similar to AD700

I've been researching a long while for my first set of audiophile headphones and my first decision was the Alessandro MS1[i] by Grado, but I'm not one for metal and that's usually what Grado is about. Then, I found the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, but the thing is too large for my head and horribly ugly anyway. So I've resorted to asking you folks because you most definitely know what you're talking about. That amazing detail, neutrality, soundstage, mids and highs, and a controlled bass. For under $100, please. 

 

Edit: I usually listen to folk, baroque pop, new wave, and R&B.

Are you considering going used? You could probably get a pair of $200-250 cans for around $100.

How big is your head?

Prob an an At 50s will do

or a pair of  sennheiser hd25

I researched the above, but it seems like you were more interested in size rather than audio, which is the most important factor to me. I'm not looking for a smaller headphone, just a regular-sized one that suffices to my needs. They're similar to Grados and lack soundstage and mids.

 

I'll mainly listen to music on these, but there'll probably be a movie thrown in regularly.

Does it have to be like AD700?  You said you havn't tried them out.  Unless you mean like soundstaging,openness and comfort above all else.

If sound doesn't matter but just size and comfort, you don't have to spend a ton. I have the Sennheiser HD 202's right now, which sound great, feel great, and are running around $20 on Amazon right now. If you want some headphones that are shaped (and therefore feel) similar to them, check out the Sennheiser HD 448's, which will be a bit better than the HD 202's and is marked down to only $49.99, since the line is discontinuing soon.
