I don't own the SE535 and actually went out to a store today I know that has them available for demo, however they were closed so unfortunately I was unable to do a direct comparison. Like Project, I'm not confident in comparing the two especially because I never owned them, only a brief demo in store. From memory, the SE535's midrange is more forward than the 8.A but both have lush mids with the 8.A being fuller. The SE535 has less bass than the 8.A and I do feel that the 8.A is also a tad warmer overall. Take my impressions of the SE535 with a pinch of salt. Project is spot on in his comparison between the Merlin and 8.A though and if you think the Merlin has too much sub bass, I think you'll really love the 8.A.

No worries kckc, really appreciate that you went the extra mile to do a comparison for me.

I'll be putting in my order today. I don't have a working printer right now and wonders if I need to have a hard copy of the completed order form to send along with my impression or I'll just only need to send the impression along with the confirmation email that I'll recieve.

You will need to send the completed form available for print out at the sign out page after you have submitted your order together with your ear impressions as advised by Wizard himself.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi Matter, just got a reply mail from The Wizard. I can request for a e-copy of my order sent to my email and print out the e-copy somewhere else with a working printer.

I didn't even know that there was an e-copy of the order form because I also did not print out the order form and sent my impressions in without printing it off. What I ended up doing was writing down my order number, model, color, faceplate option etc (just any info to help them locate my order in their database) on a piece of paper. Of course, that's because I did not have a working printer and it may have added to my turnaround time so if possible, you should definitely include your order form.

Why 2014 and not 2013 or 2015? Any particular meaning to that? Please enlighten me.

That's 2 years from now so probably I would be waiting for the a pair 8.C by then.confused.gif

I just want to compare them to my JH-16s and sell the one I don't like as much.  Or maybe keep them both very_evil_smiley.gif

Hi everybody,

first time poster here, using a JH16 with Fostex HP-P1 and Ipod Touch 4g.

I am thinking about the 8.A too, don´t know how similar it is to the JH16. I hope it adds a little smoothness in the highs and extend the soundstage, while presenting the same amount of bass...

They're very different. redface.gif

That´s ok, i´m looking for something different, but reading the reviews, i think both go in the same direction (accuracy, bass impact, smooth highs)...

I got not the right idea where the differences are...waiting for more reviews to come to get a clue what to expect...
