eek.gif .. with the E10 I've never turned it past 4-5 on low gain with the Grados. As I've never listened to either on full volume I can't tell you which is louder at max. My guess though is that the E10 will go louder due to it having a high gain switch, just a guess though.

Are you maxing out your volume on your computer and your playing software?  I've been under the impression that doing so is the ideal way to get the best sound from computer based sources.  Then you handle the fine volume control through your E10 or DAC/AMP.

The D1 volume knob does not have any indicators of where the level is at so I took a small piece of tape and marked it at 0 and then marked it again at max and made my guesses based off that.

hehehe I like to listen at rock concert levels from time to time. As far as the OS Volume, they are all turned up yes. Volume 4 and 5 on the E10 is fine with the grado 225i on most recordings for me too but try something like some old Sheffield lab CDs (Clair Marlo, Michael Ruff for ex.) and full volume is just enough to satisfy but not enough to rock out to.
