Colorful headphones in $200-$300 range

My headphones broke at the top the other day so I'm in the market for new headphones. I'm looking for really good sound quality with a very stable build but I'd really prefer if they were colorful. Wireless headphones are also an option.

Thanks!

Colorful, like colored sound?

Whoops sorry I wasn't clear. I meant that I want the headphones themselves to look colorful. But colored sound works as well.

Perhaps you'd like to design your own!

Sony XB1000 $300

the first headphones sony made in this generation that actually have audiophiles interested and posting good stuff about :)

Ultrasone Pro 900/750

the 900 is a bit pricey. the 750 should suit you

Ultrasone HFI 580/780

both are bassy, but clear with great highs. the 580 will suit you more. it's cheap, but hey, who says chepaer stuff can't sound good

Audio Technica ATH M50 -$150

Muddy Bassy. not as recommended as it used to be. Most prefer the HFI 580 over this now.

Beyerdynamics..really any one of them. $200+

I can't remember the models. there were two. one in the 700's (770?) and one in the 900's. muddy but good bass

Shure 760DJ $110

Good sound at a low cost

You've made some very good recommendations.  However, the Beyerdynamic 990s are definitely not muddy.  I have them, and the bass is very controlled and articulate.  I recommend these cans as well.  The best ones are the 600 ohm variety, but these require good amping.  If you don't have an amp, the 32 ohm flavor is also quite good, but just not as smooth the 600 ohm variety.

V-Moda Crossfade M-80. You can pick from a number of different colors, and even order custom shields for the ear cups using your own design. Supposed to sound great for the price, too.

Would you like something that doesn't need an amp or are you okay with buying an amp?

I'd prefer not to buy an amp

The Beyerdynamic DT990 32 ohm will work fine without an amp and have a decent price right now on Amazon. The DT770 32 ohm also have very strong bass.

I don't know much about beyerdynamics which you could tell :)

VMODA M-80? no. too neutral.
Vmoda LP 2? $100-$200(depends where you look) are more preferable due to the heavy "bottomless" bass prescensce

Sony XB1000 $300

i read from headfonia that these don't need an amp

Ultrasone Pro 900/750 $240-$370

....these need amps

Ultrasone HFI 580/780 $118/$158 respectively

these like all the others would benefit from one. but don't need one

Audio Technica ATH M50 -$150

don't need an amp

Beyerdynamics..really any one of them. $200+

ask hodjy for this one

Shure 750DJ $110

due to it being a shure i would guess that these don't need one. it's $100 price also agrees with me
