For a wide range of music - I was advised against getting Klipsch S4...

Hi all

so I narrowed down my headphones search to the Klipsch image s4's which got rave reviews, and is available for only 75 bucks.

less than 50% of the music I listen to is rap/hiphop/rock/electronic. I've been told that these headphones are perfect for these genres

More than 50% of the music i listen to is softer, such as fleet foxes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT-dxG4WWf4#t=2m13s

I also listen to a lot of soundtracks and insturmentals such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYkE8La2E_s&feature=related

I
really love bass, but I suppose i don't want to sacrifice sound quality and clarity for it.

Do you think I should stick to the Klipsch s4's or can you point me towards another option? I've heard of the RE-ZEROs but they're hard to find in Canada it seems. I prefer in-ear for noise isolation, and would like to spend under 100 bucks because im a poor student. Thank you very much!

From what I've read, RE-ZEROs have nearly non-existent bass, but their trebles are very good for the price. S4s have been said to have bloated bass with lack of extension in the subbass.

I would recommend the Sony mdr-ex510. I think they go for about $100 at the sony store in Canada. It has plenty of bass but is better controlled than the S4. You might also want to look at the mdr-ex310, the 510's cheaper sibling. Did you try to get a pair of Monster Turbine Pro Coppers during the futureshop sale? Can't go wrong for $95.

The RE-Zero is very flat and will not give you the bass you need for those genres. I'd highly recommend the Eternas available from Frogbeats.com.
