the different settings is for gain.

so this is entirely dependant on the ohmage oh your headphones.

however the DG is a soundcard without a dedicated headphone amp. well unlike the xonar essense st or stx

so you would be best with combining the card with a external amp and dac combo.

so yeas no amp after reading a quick review.

the software chainges the gain - well just adds more volume.

but your phones are 32ohm - so they should be driven fine by the card - however and im only assuming this as i have never listened to them that they would very much benifit from a dedicated amp - a begginer one being a fiio e9/.

Hi, I just got an Asus Xonar DG today and the front output basically has 3 different power settings, where VOIP is weakest while Exciter is the loudest. Just try it out and see what makes the MS-1's sound best, as long as you're ready for the fairly large increase of volume as you switch up in amplification. It's a nice sounding little soundcard, I hope you like it as much as I do. Oh yeah this should probably be in the computer audio forum, we'll see if a nice mod will spot this thread and move it.

What do you guys think about the card? I just got mine and all I can say that my music sounds a bit cleaner and certain aspects of my music like vocals sound more "enhanced"

I have yet to try it with Battlefield 3, gotta finish my homework first!

Its a good card are you using it for headphones?

I'm using it for non-powerhungry headphones and my 2 channel bookshelf setup that will soon be powered by a Lepia TA2020, its a highly efficient and very small speaker amplifier that doesn't sacrifice sound quality, replacing a vintage Sony amplifier that I currently have.

Hey guys! I'm also pretty interested in getting this card and pairing it with my Samson SR850's. Mainly for the built in amp as I won't really need the actual card for my Logitech X530 speakers.

I just wanted to know if it's a wise decision and also how is the music and game quality while Dolby Headphone is enabled? I heard that music is incredible once activated but probably at the expense of quality and lack of detail.

for the price you cant beat the card. dolby headphone is great makes the games sound more immersive so does music but since i got my ms1is i leave it off. also keep  the settings on "soft rock" and "pro gaming mode" which makes everything louder.

Dolby Headphone is great for gaming, not so great for music. Use the lowest gain setting you can that still gives you enough volume. I'd turn off any extra sound processing using HF mode for music, then enable Dolby Headphone (on whichever setting you want if it allows settings, I use setting 2) and GX mode for gaming.

volumes to low if you use VOIP mode i suggest Pro gaming mode its just the right volume i dont think it hurts sound quality. Im still not sure hat the GX mode does.
