I need help picking a set of IEM's

Well after 3 years my Etymotic Er6-i's finally died, and I am looking for a replacement.  These are pretty much dedicated GYM headphones.

I am looking to stay in the $100 range but will go up to about $150 if there is a substantial jump.

I want something that is pretty durable, and will get a similar life as my Er-6i's.  Comfort is also important.  I listed to mostly "hip-hop", in the gym.

I have been doing some major searching on here, and found some ideas, but the more I research, the more confused I get..lol

Possible Options:

1. Westone 1

2. Shure Se215(are these durable?)

3. Pfe-PB

4. Klipsch S4

I was considering some Re-0's but I am getting mixed feedback on build quality/durability.

If there is anything else I am missing in this price range feel free to recommend something.

Any Help is much appreciated!   Thanks.

The Etymotic HF5(very detailed in mids, extended highs and good bass response), Sony EX600(crisp clear mids, highs with dynamic punchy bass and wide soundstage), JVC FXT90(deep punchy bass and detailed mids highs), Brainwavz B2( very detailed mids extended highs and good bass response), Sony EX510( fun and detailed), M4( very detailed yet offers good punchy bass) and HSA Crystal( overall detailed with heavy lowend response) are recommended and they all sound great and fit for gym use.

Thanks for the response.  I was considering the Ety's as I really liked my last pair, but I read some reviews that sounded like build quality wasn't as good.  The Ety's stayed in my ears well which is what I am after with this next set.

Sony has just left a bad taste in my mouth, as I killed like 2-3 sets in fairly short order.  Granted they were only like 40-$50 but still.

I will have to look more into the Brainwaves.

Do you feel those you listed would be a better choice then say the Westone 1 or PEF-PB?

Thanks again!

How about the Triplefi-10's ?  Would it be worth it just to pony up for a set of those?

I can vouch for 2 of the three you mentioned. I went from the Klipsch S4 to the Shure SE215. It was a good move. The Shure's have a much more clear sound than the S4's. As for durability, its only been 4 days, but they are MUCH better build wise over the S4's. With the S4's, I also spent quite a bit of time making sure they were in tightly. The Shure's do not have this issue. I also felt at anytime I might snag the cable on the S4's and break them, most of the time one would just come out. The Shure's for the price are a solid choice, IMHO. I have to admit though, I keep looking at UE 10's though.

Thanks for the feedback.  The only real benefit I see to the S4 at this point is they are SUPER inexpensive.

It seems like the more I dig, and research the more difficult my decision becomes..lol

RIght now the sony ex600, jvc-fxt90, and TF-10's are catching my attention.

I paid about $50 for the S4's on ebay, and $105 for the SE215 at Guitar Center, out the door. Buying retail, the difference isnt very large, going online, yes you can do better. If you can go try the Shure's I would say do it. Have fun though, getting use to how they go in right off the bat can be a challenge.

Is getting something with a replaceable cable a big plus?  I think the JVC-fxt90 seem like my choice at this point, but seems like the replaceable cables on the TF-10 and Ex600 is a nice feature.

I'm also after IEM that can be used for gym amongst other qualities.

Although ex600 & tf-10 have replaceable cables I think both are less easy to wear & keep on with memory wire than fxt90. Something to consider. I have owned tf-10 & can say the cable is quite horrible & stiff.

I'm curious about the sound quality differences between fxt90 & ex600. I have read the ex600 sound stage is huge - can anyone compare to ie8. Fxt90 is supposed to havd average one.
