Perhaps I can score some used or broken CALs to do the transplant. It was worth a try. Just wondering, though...how much do you think it'd cost to ship to the US from you?

Considering it's a package and under 1 kg I think the standard price is $40.

Though I AM very unsure of the exact amount since I haven't shipped anything, but looking at the prices on our postal services website says $40.

Hmmm...I wish I could find some CALs on the cheap now.

If I can't find anything else, I'll have to get into contact with you, Coq de Combat. I'm looking under $50 for the drivers, so I could possibly do $40 if I can't find anything else and you don't mind giving them up.

Again, I'm actually more interested in using these for my own DIY project. When I said "I know no one to give them to and I am willing to sacrifice them to doing something fun out of." I meant giving to a family member or sacrificing them by doing something fun out of them myself.. I'm sorry for the confusion there.

BUT, I have a pair of old HD201 lying around here, and I'd be willing to strip them and give you the drivers for free if you want them. But I'd probably just send them per regular post so I can pay postage as well .. No need for money involvement in that case.

We'll be in contact about it. The friend I'm building the headphones for has ordered his fake Beats in the mail. and he'll have me do the project if he doesn't like how the cheapo drivers in them sound. If he wants an upgrade, we'll be in contact.

Any other deals or driver suggestions?

Sure, just PM me with information where to send them. I'll be more than happy to destroy those little creeps. I kind of hate them.

I've tried the 201 and didn't like them at all either, but (being a Beats fanboy) the person I'm making them for could care less about SQ as long as it's passable.

You know, this whole thing is starting to sound pretty damned bizarre. LOL

A Beats fanboy can't afford (?) buying real Beats so he buys fakes and if the sound is horrible he has somehow convinced his friend to transplant the drivers from a HD201 into the fakes so that the sound becomes bearable? LL

I'm still on the lookout for half-decent drivers, though. Knowing him, I think he'd be happy with anything better than iBuds. Besides, I haven't done much DIY before and I might as well start on something I can't ruin.

As said, you can have my HD201 drivers. Just PM when you've decided to take them on...

Happy new year

Just one last question. I've read HD201 reviews, and some say that they're bassy while others say the bass is nonexistent. What's your take on it?

And happy new year to you, too.

They are by no means bass monsters. They won't cut it for bassheads IMO. But they aren't exactly bas light either. They are "fun sounding" .. the little I listened to them anyway.
